If you’re finding it harder to cover your rent, food, energy bills or other household costs, it’s worth checking that you’re getting all the help you’re entitled to.

We’ve partnered with Disability Rights UK (DRUK) to provide free, confidential benefit audit and advice to our tenants.

How DRUK can help

Our Rent Assist team can refer you to DRUK’s advisers, who will look at your circumstances and check which benefits, grants and discounts you may be entitled to.

You don’t need to know which benefits to apply for or work out what you might be entitled to before you speak to them.

The adviser will ask about things such as your income, savings, housing costs and whether you have a disability or long-term health condition. They can then explain what help you may be able to get and answer any questions you have.

The service is available to all Habinteg tenants, whether you’re disabled or non-disabled, and whether you’re working, looking for work or not working.

Why check your benefits

Knowing what help you can get isn’t always easy. Benefit rules can change, and the help you can get may change if your circumstances are different.

You might have started or stopped working, had a change in your income or rent, or had a change in who lives in your home. Even if you checked your benefits before, it may be worth checking again if things have changed.

A benefits check can also be useful if you’re not sure what help is available or where to start.

If you’re worried about meeting your rent payments, our Rent Assist team can help. They can review your rent account with you and discuss a way forward

They can also refer you to DRUK for a free benefits check, so you can get advice about what help you might be entitled to.
