Policy and research

Habinteg’s policy work is central to our strategy to improve housing options for disabled people and create a more inclusive world.

We produce and promote evidence to influence legislation, national and local housing policy and support best practice in accessible housing. Disabled people’s experiences are at the heart of our response and are a critical aspect of our message.

We work with central, regional and local government to support the development of inclusive policy and good practice.

In parliament we build relationships with MPs of all parties and seek to develop opportunities with select committees and other influential groups to build support for the case for accessible homes and neighbourhoods.

As an organisation of relatively modest size we often collaborate with others to achieve greater impact.

We co-chair the Housing Made for Everyone (HoME) coalition, established in 2019 to co-ordinate the voices of a wide range of organisations who want to see more accessible homes available.
