Rent Assist

Habinteg’s Rent Assist team is here to support tenants with paying their rent.

The team can provide help to tenants who think they may fall into rent arrears or who may already be in arrears.

We can provide advice, including benefits advice, if you are struggling to manage your finances and pay your rent on time.

Difficulty paying your rent?

Contact the Rent Assist team as soon as possible if you are having problems paying your rent by calling Habinteg Direct on 0300 365 3100 – or speak to your local Neighbourhood team.

A repayment plan

Our friendly and helpful team can create a tailored, affordable plan with you, based on your circumstances, to help you reduce and clear your rent arrears.

We will monitor the repayment plans regularly and work with you if we need to find a better solution.

Referral to Disability Rights UK specialist advice team

We have partnered with Disability Rights UK to refer any of our tenants – disabled and non disabled - for a full benefits entitlement check. This will ensure that you’re receiving all the benefits you’re entitled to.

The service is available to all of our tenants, regardless of your employment status or whether you are in rent arrears.

Discretionary housing payments

We have helped many tenants to access Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) - this is a pot of money held by local councils to help people in rent arrears.

A DHP is available for a variety of reasons and can help you meet rent payments if your benefit entitlement is not covering all of your rent.
