Meet Rohan Bundell, one of Habinteg’s Neighbourhood Coordinators. Rohan works across North West and West Central London, supporting tenants and spending time on schemes. He enjoys working as part of a team and helping people when they need it. Read on to find out about his dream home, why he’d like to watch a jousting match and what he gets up to on his days off.

Tell us what your job involves. 

I deal with a real mix of things, from chasing up repairs and helping tenants with benefits to dealing with nuisance behaviour.

As Neighbourhood Coordinators, we're on the frontline supporting tenants, sometimes in difficult situations.

It can be challenging work, but it's also very rewarding. Knowing that we can help people is what keeps me motivated.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Working as a team to respond to emergencies, whether that’s a medical emergency, fire or anti-social behaviour.

What’s one of the most difficult aspects of your job?

Explaining when there are limits to the support we can provide.

What’s it like working on the frontline on schemes all day? 

It’s important. It helps us see what’s happening on the ground and understand the issues tenants are facing.

How many tenants’ lives do you believe you change in a week?

A week is a bit of a high bar, but if five tenants in a year feel I’ve changed their life, I’d be happy with that.

You have £1 million pounds to spend – describe your ideal house purchase? 

Something rural, a fixer-upper for decoration only with otherwise brand-new plumbing and electrics.

Are you a guinea pig, hamster or rat kind of guy? 

Probably a guinea pig. I like to experiment.

You’re having a Friday night in front of the telly – what are you eating and what are you watching?

A roast of some kind, and a film that makes me think.

What’s the nicest thing that’s happened to you on scheme?

Seeing a tenant finally get the benefits they were entitled to after months of struggling.

What’s the most unexpected thing that’s happened to you on your scheme?

On my fourth day, I had to call the fire brigade and police. Since then, nothing surprises me!

You’ve won tickets to a free sporting event of your choice, what’ll it be?

I’ve heard jousting is making a comeback!

If you were able to ask one thing of all the tenants in your region, what would you ask?

Reach out to your neighbours and help build a stronger community. Too many people feel isolated and lonely.

Which scheme in your region would you like to live on and why?

The Firs in Edgware. It’s really quiet and relaxed.

You get a day off for going above and beyond in the line of duty– how do you spend it?

Meeting up with an old friend.

What’s your favourite staycation destination for a summer holiday?

The North Devon coast is beautiful.

Please explain the meaning of the word  Habinteg .

It comes from Latin and reflects our aim to provide accessible homes. On the phone, I usually spell it out using the NATO alphabet: “Hotel Alpha Bravo India November Tango Echo Golf.”
