Have your say: 5 ways to get involved with Habinteg | Tenant news

Becoming an involved Habinteg tenant gives you the chance to have a say in the services you receive, raise issues that matter to you and help shape what happens at Habinteg.

You can get involved in different ways, from having a say in decisions at your scheme to reviewing policies, joining tenant groups or taking part in events.

Here are five ways you can get involved.

1. Join the Editorial Panel

If you’re interested in how Habinteg communicates with tenants, joining the Editorial Panel could be for you. The panel reviews tenant communications and helps make sure they’re clear, useful and relevant.

Over the past year, members have taken part in reviewing the Annual Report to Tenants , summer Update newsletter,  the fortnightly Habinteg bulletin and our Damp and Mould booklet.

Frances Clarke, an Editorial Panel member, said: “Being an involved tenant gives me the chance to have my say and feel like I’m part of improving Habinteg’s services. It’s important to me that tenants’ voices are heard and that our experiences are taken into account when decisions are made.”

2. Become a Local Tenant Representative

Local Tenant Representatives help represent the views of tenants at their scheme. They can attend Tenant Listening Events, raise issues and help decide how the Tenant Led Improvement Budget is spent on improvements at your scheme.

3. Join the Joint Strategy & Impact Group

The Joint Strategy & Impact Group (JSIG), brings tenants, Board members and Habinteg staff together to look at how tenant involvement works across the organisation.

The group helps make sure tenants’ views reach the Board and has been involved in areas including complaints handling and tenant communications.

JSIG members are selected from Habinteg’s other tenant involvement groups, so you’ll need to be involved in one of these groups before you can join JSIG.

4. Join the Scrutiny Panel

The Scrutiny Panel gives tenants the chance to examine how a particular service is working and recommend improvements.

Previous scrutiny work has included a review of repairs, which led to changes to repair times and how we communicate with you about repairs.

5. Take part in Tenant Listening Events

Tenant Listening Events are held across all Habinteg’s regions and bring tenants and staff together to review performance and agree priorities for improvement.

Each event includes Local Tenant Representatives, Neighbourhood Managers and Senior Contractor Surveyors, with a named Board member and contractors also attending. They look at tenant satisfaction, complaints, compliments and performance data to see what’s working and where things could improve.

Any Habinteg tenant can attend. The events give you the chance to share your views and help shape priorities in your region.
