Habinteg Housing Association has appointed Monika Liskiewicz as its new Executive Director of Resources to lead its finance, governance, people services and IT/data teams.
Monika is a qualified Chartered Accountant with 19 years of experience working in finance, across a variety of roles in highly regulated and customer-centric environments.
Habinteg’s Chief Executive, Martin Warhust, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Monika to Habinteg. As an experienced housing leader who is passionate about the sector, she’s a valuable addition to our Executive Management Team as we move forwards with our new five-year strategy.”
Passionate about social housing
During her career, Monika has provided assurance services and accounting advice to a wide range of organisations in both the public and private sectors. She worked with a number of housing associations, initially as a financial advisor, and subsequently within the sector itself. Most recently, she served as Director of Financial Resources at Accent Group, a large national housing association.
She brings Non-Executive Director experience from her role on the Board of the housing association Salix Homes, where she chaired its Governance and Remuneration Committee and served on its Audit & Risk Committee.
Monika joins Habinteg – which includes the leading inclusive design and access consultancy, the Centre for Accessible Environments – in the first year of its new corporate strategy, which has had significant input from Habinteg tenants.
Championing inclusion mission
She is also Vice-Chair of the Housing SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) Working Party, which oversees the development of the Housing SORP, which is a framework for guiding UK social housing providers on accounting and financial reporting.
Monika is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, the highest tier of membership within the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Monika said: “Habinteg is much more than a housing provider. It has a strong and distinctive social purpose, with a mission to champion inclusion by providing and promoting accessible homes and inclusive communities. I’m incredibly excited to be part of this journey and to play a part in making a real difference to people's lives.”
