Habinteg appoints Christina McGill as Director of Social Impact & External Affairs

Habinteg Housing Association has appointed Christina McGill as its Director of Social Impact & External Affairs.

Christina will take a strategic lead in promoting the organisation’s interests, influencing decision-makers to increase the number of accessible homes and the adoption of accessibility standards.

Leading on the housing association’s social impact strategy Christina will focus on developing local and national partnerships that help support and sustain tenancies, and build cohesive, inclusive communities.

The role also oversees Habinteg’s Communications Team and its specialist consultancy service, Centre for Accessible Environments (CAE).

Christina was previously Head of Communications for 10 years at the housing association, which specialises in inclusive housing for disabled and older people, prior to a nine month interim appointment as Director of Strategy & External Affairs.

Nick Apetroaie, Habinteg CEO, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Christina to the Executive Management Team in her new role. Christina brings to the role a deep commitment to Habinteg’s cause and in-depth sector knowledge as well expertise in public relations and campaigning with significant knowledge of housing policy. I look forward to working with Christina and the rest of the organisation to deliver Habinteg’s ambitious four year strategy, Towards 2026.”

Christina McGill said: “Habinteg is such a special housing association, which has done so much to champion accessible and adaptable housing to better meet the needs of disabled people and their families. I know from personal experience how important this mission is so I’m really delighted to have the opportunity to take forward this new role.

I’ll be building on the association’s award winning campaigns and its great work in the policy and practice arena. I’m also really excited to kick off Habinteg’s new social impact programme, seeking out new projects and partnerships that can have a lasting impact on our tenants’ lives and help our communities thrive.”
