Watch out for broadband & mobile price hikes | Tenant news

If you own a mobile phone and have broadband at home, start checking if you can get a better deal as the annual increase could see prices rise by as much as 17.3% in April, according to the MoneySavingExpert team.

MoneySavingExpert has a full list of the upcoming price hikes for major telecoms firms that you can check to see if your provider is included, and how much of a price increase you should expect.

If you’re almost out of contract with your current provider, it’s the perfect time to start looking for a cheaper broadband and phone deal.

Before you switch to a new provider, it’s important to:

• Work out what your broadband/phone needs are
• Check when your contract is running out
• Research what packages are being offered by various providers by using a broadband comparison site and a mobile comparison site before you choose
• Look out for any cashback opportunities or freebies being offered if you switch, but make sure that the contract will not be costing you more in the long term.

If you can’t get out of your contract, ask your provider if they have any payment plan options.
