Get to know our Neighbourhood Team: meet Tracy Ford

Find out why Cornwall Neighbourhood Manager Tracy Ford was given a bunch of thank you roses from a tenant, why she loves where she lives and why dogs are her favourite animal (she has three!).

Describe what your job entails

I manage the Cornwall area, visiting our schemes and tenants. I deal with anti-social behaviour and safeguarding issues, and support tenants who need help. There are so many aspects to the job, it’s hard to sum up it up in a few sentences.

What’s the best thing about your job?

When I’m able to help someone, who may be in a difficult situation or needs an adaptation to their home to make life easier.

What’s the best thing about working on your schemes?

Spotting things in person that needs attention, seeing tenants and having little chats.

How many tenants’ lives do you change in a week?

I’m not sure but when we sign up new tenants, it’s a big positive change for them and a nice part of the job.

What’s the nicest thing that’s happened to you on your scheme?

One of my tenants gave me a bunch of roses and thanked me for all the help I have given him in becoming independent.

If you had to be CEO of your region for one week, name three things you’d do?

Increase our repairs team in the area, paint all the houses in pastel colours and have a street party!

If you were able to ask one thing of all the tenants in your region, what would it be?

Come to our coffee mornings and scheme meetings.

Which scheme in your region would you like to live on and why?

Crofty Close in Pool, west Cornwall, as it has a fantastic sense of community, and everyone looks out for each other.

What’s your favourite animal and why?

Dogs - I have three and would have more if I could manage it. I love the simplicity of their personalities and the loyalty. (Two of Tracy's dogs are pictured below, Pixi in the background, and Bobi in the foreground).

A picture of two dogs on the beach.

What’s your favourite place to holiday in the UK?

Cornwall, because I live here, and I love it and everything about it.

What qualities make a good neighbour?

Remembering how your actions may be affecting those living around you.

How do you think your Habinteg colleagues describe you?

Slightly bonkers with a good heart, I hope.

If you could choose, who would you most like to live next door to, and why

My mum, because I live too far from her, and I would love to see her every day.
