Habinteg’s #ForAccessibleHomes campaign nominated for third award

Habinteg’s #ForAccessibleHomes campaign has been shortlisted for the UK Housing Awards 2018 ‘outstanding approach to communication’ award, and winners will be announced at a London ceremony in May 2018.

This is the third award that our #ForAccessibleHomes campaign has been nominated for so far, after winning the award for ‘best in-house collaboration’ in conjunction with Connect at the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) Public Affairs Awards, and winning the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) annual excellence award for Public Affairs last year.

Judges from the PRCA awards ceremony commented that “the judges felt that this campaign was ‘thorough’, ‘innovative’ and ‘extremely impressive”, and this recent nomination is further recognition of the campaign’s success to date.

Our #ForAccessibleHomes campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of accessible homes by sharing tenant stories which highlight the crucial difference accessible housing has made to their lives. By emphasising the vital human impact of accessibility, #ForAccessibleHomes ensures that access and inclusion remain on the agenda for planners, developers and policy makers alike.

There is huge demand for more accessible housing options across tenures, and this will only increase as our population ages. However, there is currently an undersupply of accessible, adaptable homes in the UK which means that it can be difficult for individuals, older people and families to find homes which suit their access requirements.

Sheron Carter, CEO of Habinteg said:

“It is great to start the year on a high by receiving further recognition for the importance of our campaign and all the hard work from the staff and tenants involved.

“We are delighted that #ForAccessibleHomes is a multi-award winning campaign and hope to continue to build on its success to ensure that accessible homes and inclusive design receives the attention they deserve.

“As we enter another busy year for the housing sector, we are looking forward to taking this project to the next level.”

The #ForAccessibleHomes campaign will be running for a third time in 2018, aiming to build on the success of previous years and continuing to raise the profile of accessible housing.
