The government's Energy Bills Support Scheme, which began in October 2022, will come to an end in March 2023. This will be followed by an increase in energy bills from April 2023.
Here's what that means for your household and the available help:
Current energy support
Households received payments of £66 in November, followed by £67 in December, January and February with the last payment of £67 expected in March.
Cold Weather Payment scheme
The £25 Cold Weather Payment that was introduced in November is still available until 31 March 2023. You can read more about this payment in our tenants news section.
Grants for gas and electric bills
Energy companies are still offering grants and support towards energy bills. Find out if you’re eligible and how you can apply.
Other help and support
Household Support Fund for vulnerable people and groups
The government set aside a support fund for households who are most in need. These vulnerable groups include; large families or single-income families vulnerable to rising costs. Also other low-income households with children of all ages, pensioners, disabled people, unpaid carers and care leavers. If you fall under any of these categories, please check with your local council if you can access the Household Support fund through your local council.
Water bills
If you’re on a low income, you may be eligible for a payment break, social tariff, or other support for water bill payments. Find out if you can get help towards your water bills.
Phone and Broadband
If you are on a low income and struggling to meet your broadband and phone bills, check with Ofcom to see if you can get a social tariff broadband and phone package.
