Tenants at Habinteg’s St. Giles Court scheme in Ealing, West London, are thankful for the additional hand rails that make it easier for them to move between floors safely.
St. Giles Court is three stories high and has lift access. Tenants at the scheme had asked for additional rails to be fitted in the hallways and stairway.
One tenant Julie Mujico (pictured above right), who has mobility difficulties, has lived at the scheme for around 20 years. She said: “There were times when the lifts were out of operation and I would struggle to use the stairs. I spoke to our scheme’s Tenant Representative, Brian Scott and our Neighbourhood Coordinator, Alan Rosario to ask if we could get some rails installed, and now I have peace of mind that I can move around safely.”
Tenant Representative Brian Scott (pictured above left) has lived at St Giles Court for 50 years. He was the first tenant to move in with his young family when the scheme opened.
Brian said: “I’m very happy that the railings have been installed. I’ve become a little more unsteady on my feet in recent years, so I depend on the rails when getting in and out of the lifts.”
Neighbourhood Coordinator, Alan Rosario said: “We are really pleased to have been able to install the new hand rails at St. Giles Court. I’m looking forward to working with the residents to see more repairs and improvements made over the coming months.”
