Top up your Covid-19 immunity this spring

If you’re at risk of becoming seriously ill from Covid-19, the NHS is offering free Covid-19 booster doses to keep you protected this spring.

Like all vaccinations, if you’ve had your first and second Covid-19 vaccine, the level of protection it provides over time may decline.

These booster vaccines will top up your antibodies, increase your protection against the illness and reduce the likelihood of a hospital trip if you catch the virus.

The booster

The NHS is giving out the spring booster between April and June. You’ll be contacted to have your booster if you’re:

  • Aged 75 or over (you need to have turned 75 on or before 30 June 2023)
  • Live in a care home for older adults
  • Aged 5 or over and have a weakened immune system.

If you’re eligible for the booster vaccine and haven’t yet been contacted by the NHS, you can book your Covid-19 vaccination appointment online or get it at your nearest walk-in Covid vaccination site.

Stay protected

The Covid-19 virus is still very much around, so it’s important that you do what you can to keep yourself protected.

If you’re at a higher risk of becoming seriously ill from catching the virus, you can get topped up with your seasonal booster every three months.
