There is a growing raft of support to help people through the cost of living increases, with assistance for households on everything from childcare costs to energy bills and supermarket deals to broadband discounts.
Government help for all
The government has set up a Help for Households website, which offers information and support with the cost of living pressures.
You'll find help on childcare costs, housing support, transport costs, energy bills, and finding work. And you’ll also be able to access discounts and offers from high street food retailers including Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, and Iceland - travel companies, entertainment brands, and other brands.
Take a look at helpforhouseholds.campaign.gov.uk/.
Supermarket deals
According to Martin Lewis and his team at MoneySavingExpert (MSE) many high street supermarkets are offering significant discounts on their online delivery services.
Some are offering new customer offers up to 40% off or £20 off (depending on where you live). Use as many as you can, and you'll make BIG savings.
The MSE team has put together a list of supermarket introductory delivery code offers for new customers from the likes of Iceland, Ocado, Sainsbury’s, and other companies. You’ll have to book a delivery slot in advance to get the offer.
Cheaper broadband
While you’re on the MoneySavingExpert website, it’s a good idea to check out the broadband deals available via their broadband comparison tool.
Martin advises that you could be missing out on discounted 'social tariffs', which could save you an average of £144/year if you receive:
A new system introduced by the Department for Work and Pensions allows customers to give permission to broadband providers to confirm their eligibility for cheaper deals.
Big broadband providers, such as BT, Sky, and Virgin Media, are offering discounted social tariffs for new and existing customers. TalkTalk is also offering six months' FREE broadband for jobseekers.
