A series of planned activities on our Stockton scheme have revived the community spirit that had been severely dampened following the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns.
In a bid to re-energise the scheme, our Neighbourhood teams ran a tenant consultation last year to find out what activities and events people might be interested in taking part in.
The team received some great suggestions that have led to a series of activities that have helped bring back the community spirit on scheme, and around the local area.
Activities and events on scheme
The neighbourhood team worked with tenant representatives on scheme and other community partnerships - Stockton Council, Stockton Central Community Partnership, Catalyst, Cultivate Tees Valley, Christians Against Poverty and Mill Lane School - and have put together various classes, courses and events in the community centre and out on the scheme.
These are the new groups that have been set up so far on scheme:
The classes have been a huge success, and are well attended by residents of all age groups and abilities.
How’s this helped tenants?
Here’s what one tenant had to say when asked about the groups.
“Habinteg has helped me to meet my new neighbours. I’m able to help others with their crafts, which I thoroughly enjoy doing, and it gets me out of the house and gives me something to look forward to each week. I can’t thank Habinteg enough for listening and making it possible for us.”
The Neighbourhood team is pleased to see tenants getting out and about again, meeting, making new friends and enjoying the community centre.
