Second cost of living payment due within four weeks

Second cost of living payment

With many people already feeling the rising cost of living pinch in their pockets, the good news is that the second cost of living payment is due between 8 and 23 November 2022.

In order to receive this second payment of £324, you need to have received the first payment of £326 back in July.

Exceptions to the rule

If you claim the working tax credit or the child tax credit AND the working tax credit, you will receive the second payment even if you didn’t get the first payment.

You will also receive the second payment if you are on any of these benefits:

  • Universal Credit
  • Pension credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Job Seeker allowance
  • Income-related employment and support allowance.

If you’re unsure of which benefits you should be receiving, please use MoneySavingExpert’s benefits checker calculator to find out what you’re entitled to.

Anyone eligible for the cost of living payment will be paid automatically, so don’t respond to any messages asking you to send in payment details. They could be from scammers.

What if I’m on disability benefits?

You should have received an additional £150, in September, if you’re on disability benefits including:

  • War pension mobility
  • Personal Independence mobility (PIP)
  • Disability living allowance (for children and adults)
  • Constant attendance allowance
  • Attendance allowance
  • Armed forces independence payment.

If you haven’t received the £150, please contact the Department of Work and Pensions.
