If you're struggling to cover your rent or want to make sure you're getting the financial support you’re entitled to, our Rent Assist team is here to help.

We know things can feel overwhelming if you begin to fall behind with your rent or if you’re already in arrears, but you don’t have to face it alone.

Here’s what you can expect when you contact our team.

Range of support

Our Rent Assist team provide a free support service for Habinteg tenants who may need help managing their rent, are concerned about missed payments or want to talk about benefits.

You’ll be treated with respect and without judgement. They’ll take the time to listen, understand your circumstances, and offer clear, practical advice that works for you.

Rent Assist offer a range of support depending on your needs. This includes:

Help to complete benefit forms such as Universal Credit, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support
Advice if your benefit has stopped or been reduced
Support with rent arrears, including repayment plans
Help with budgeting and understanding your income and outgoings. Visit www.habinnteg.org.uk/budgeting for useful tools.

Our team works closely with other services too, so if you need legal advice, debt support or help with food and fuel, they can refer you to trusted organisations who can assist further.

Benefits check

A benefits entitlement check is a simple way to find out if you’re missing out on any financial support. Many people don’t realise they could be getting more help even if they’re working.

Rent Assist can also refer you to Disability Rights UK for a full benefits entitlement check.. This referral is available to all tenants, whether you’re disabled or non-disabled and regardless of your employment status.
