New electrical contractor carrying out safety checks

Over the coming weeks, you will receive an introductory letter from our new electrical contractor, CLP Ltd.

CLP will be carrying out electrical safety checks in your home, and they will contact you to arrange a convenient appointment time.

Keeping you safe

As part of Habinteg’s legal duty to make sure your home is safe, we’re required to perform an electrical safety test.

This test takes place every five years and gives you an assurance that your electrics are safe for continued use.

What will CLP need?

CLP will need to:

  • access your fuse box
  • access all rooms within the property
  • check for any electric shock risks
  • check for any fire hazards associated with your electrics
  • identify anything that does not comply with the British Standard 7671
  • carry out any required electrical repair and maintenance works
  • conduct a safety check on your smoke detectors
  • decide if you require an upgrade to your smoke detectors and CO2 detector (where applicable).

These safety checks form part of your signed tenancy agreement, so it’s vital that you keep your appointment with CLP to ensure we can complete this inspection.

Check ID

Always remember: All contractors working on behalf of Habinteg must carry identification cards. Before allowing any contractor into your home you should ask to see identification.
