New £900 cost of living payments start this April | Tenant news

Millions of households will receive a tax-free grant of £900 to help with the cost of living, from 25 April 2023.

The £900 grant will be broken down into three payments and will be automatically added to your bank account, if you qualify. You won’t need to apply for it.

Who will get the payments?

To qualify for this payment, you need to have received one or more of the following benefits between 26 January and 25 February 2023:

• income support
• income-based jobseeker's allowance
• income-related employment and support allowance
• pension credit
• universal credit.

If you also receive any tax credits in addition to any of these benefits, your first payment will arrive in your bank account between 2 and 9 May 2023.
