Masks and hand washing still good lines of defence against Covid-19

Covid-19 is still with us and cases are on the rise across the UK, where, in England, 1 in 30 people have had Covid-19 in the past week.

Late June saw the highest number of Covid-19 infections since April, and the UK Health Security Agency is advising everyone to continue to follow the most up-to-date guidance to reduce the spread of the virus.

Latest guidance

The guidance recommends wearing masks in crowded indoor spaces, washing hands for 20 seconds with soap after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose, and before you eat or handle food, and on returning home.

Habinteg employees, and contractors, are still taking precautions to protect you, and, if they display symptoms of Covid-19, they will stay at home.

Visiting tenants’ homes

When meeting our contractors or employees you can expect them to:

  • Wear a mask for indoor meetings and visits to tenants’ homes, unless exempt
  • Maintain an appropriate social distance
  • Practice good hand hygiene.

Booked appointments

In return, we politely request that tenants who have an appointment or a repair booked:

  • Inform Habinteg if someone in the household is isolating or has tested positive for Covid-19. We will arrange another appointment
  • Leave doors and windows open where possible to ventilate the rooms
  • Stay in another room, or outdoors where possible
  • Open two windows in different rooms to create airflow, if possible
  • Wear a mask while the contractor or employee is in your home unless exempt.

If we each do our best to follow the guidance above, we can keep each other safe and well this summer.
