Keep yourself and your family safe during Storm Eunice

The Met Office has issued amber, and red weather warnings, which means severe to dangerous weather is expected across the UK from 7am to 12 midday on Friday 18 February.

The storm will bring gusts of up to 90mph that are likely to result in flying debris, damage to homes and power lines, uprooted trees, and falling branches, all of which could threaten your safety.

Stay Safe

It's essential to know what to do before, during, and after the storm to be as safe as possible.

The Met Office advises you should:

  • Put away or secure loose objects such as ladders and garden furniture
  • Close and fasten doors and windows
  • Park vehicles in a garage, if available, or keep them clear of trees, walls, and fences
  • Stay indoors during the storm if at all possible
  • Try not to walk or shelter close to buildings and trees, if you must go out
  • Try not to drive unless your journey is vital
  • Check if vulnerable neighbours or relatives are safe or need help.

The wind is expected to ease around lunchtime on Friday, but while it may be safe to venture out late afternoon, you still need to keep your eyes open for potential hazards.

Contacting Habinteg

The storm is expected to bring damaging winds and heavy downpours, which may cause a surge in call volumes for our Customer Services Team. Even though we will have extra staff working to support tenants, it may take longer than usual to get through to us.

On Friday morning, tenants should call our Customer Services Team on 0300 365 3100 to report emergency incidents or repairs. Find out what qualifies as an emergency repair.

Please note, if we have a high level of emergency calls, our contractors may take slightly longer than usual to get out to your property; we will be prioritising major incidents and vulnerable customers.

All other non-urgent enquiries can be reported via your online Habinteg account.
