Have your day shaping your community’s future

At Habinteg, we believe that a house is a home, but the people who live there create the community, that’s why we place tenant involvement at the heart of everything we do.

When you choose to get involved, you aren’t just sharing an opinion; you are actively shaping the way your scheme is managed, how our services are delivered, and how we support disabled and non-disabled people to live well together.

Getting involved also comes with real benefits. You can build skills and experience to strengthen your CV, access training opportunities, and connect with others in your community.

If you attend in-person meetings, we’ll cover your travel costs and provide lunch where appropriate, so you can focus on taking part without the extra costs.

Local influence

Our involved tenants act as the eyes and ears of our communities. From suggesting a new bench in a communal garden to scrutinising how we handle repairs, your feedback leads to tangible changes.

For example, tenant-led groups have recently helped shape how we obtain national contracts and how we communicate during major works.

By bringing your lived experience to the table, you ensure that Habinteg’s decisions are grounded in the reality of day-to-day life at our schemes.

Make an impact

Whether you have five minutes or five hours to spare, there is a role that fits your lifestyle. There are a variety of panels and activities where you can make your voice heard:

  • Local Tenant Representatives: Be the key link between Habinteg and your specific scheme, advocating for your neighbours’ needs.

  • Scrutiny Panel: Deep dive into specific services to see what’s working and what needs to improve.

  • Complaints Panel Pool: Help us review how we handle complaints to ensure fairness and transparency.

  • Editorial Panel: Help proofread, design and provide feedback that influences content choices on our newsletters and publications to make sure they are clear and relevant.

  • Task and Finish Groups: Join a short-term group focused on a single or subject, such as reviewing a new policy or a specific contract.

  • Staff Interview Panel Pool : Have a say in who we hire! Tenants help interview potential new staff members to ensure they share our values.

  • Neighbourhood Plans: Work with staff to set the priorities for your local area for the coming year.

  • Tenant Listening Events: Join regional sessions to share your views on big-picture topics in a relaxed, conversational setting.

  • Local Neighbourhood Events: Participate in coffee mornings and scheme meetings to discuss immediate local issues.

  • Joint Strategic Impact Group (JSIG): A high-level group that monitors our performance and ensures tenant voices are heard at a board level. Members of the JSIG are recruited from the other tenant involvement groups.

Ready to apply?

Your expertise as a resident is the most valuable tool we have. That’s why we’re inviting you to join our growing network of involved tenants and help us build stronger, more inclusive communities. You don’t need any prior experience and we’re very keen to welcome tenants with a wide range of backgrounds and talents. If you need any adjustments or need to get materials in alternative formats in order to get going we can arrange that too.

An exciting opportunity to join our Digital and Data Group is now open, that will help us to improve our digital services to tenants and explore ways to use technology to improve satisfaction with our homes and services.

This will involve testing new software and feeding in your thoughts through meetings that we will hold on zoom.

We also currently have five vacancies for our Complaints Panel Pool. To find out more about those vacancies or to discuss which group is right for you, please contact our dedicated Customer Engagement Team by:
