Charities offering financial support for disabled people

Disabled people can often face extra costs for equipment, home adaptations, or everyday living expenses.

If you or a member of your household is disabled, there are charitable grants available that can help cover some of these expenses, and you don’t have to repay them.

We’ve put together a list of resources and tools to help you find support.

Disability Grants

Disability Grants is a website that helps disabled people, or parents and carers of disabled children or adults, find financial support from UK charities and trusts.

The website lists hundreds of organisations providing financial support for equipment, education, home adaptations and more.

You can search for grants available nationally and in your local area by exploring the individual sections on the website.

Visit disability-grants.org to find grants you may be able eligible for.

Turn2us

Turn2us is a national charity that helps people access financial support, including grants for disabled people. You can use their benefits and grant search tool to check what you may be eligible for and how to apply.

Visit turn2us.org.uk to find support in your area.

Family Fund

Family Fund runs a Support for Families with Disabled Children (SFDC) programme. SFDC  gives financial help to families living in England on a low income, who are raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young person under 18.

You can apply for help to buy kitchen appliances (like a fridge, cooker, or washing machine) clothing or bedding for your child, sensory or play equipment, technology like tablets or laptops, or even a family break.

, There is also a Mobility Support programme for families with a disabled or seriously ill child under three and a child with mobility needs. The programme can cover the cost of a short-term car lease to help with medical appointments or everyday travel.

To apply, your household must be on a low income, you must be eligible for a Family Fund grant, and you (or a carer) must have a full UK driving licence.
