Bristol scheme gets communal area refurb, thanks to the BBC

Habinteg tenants at Nash Drive scheme in Bristol, are getting their communal area refurbished thanks to money from the BBC after their production team used the scheme’s car park while filming.

The comedy drama the Outlaws was filmed in a property close to Habinteg’s Nash Drive scheme, and the BBC hired Nash Drive’s car park to park their TV production vans.

The tenants at Nash Drive have all received a £40 shopping voucher each, and Habinteg received a further £300 to revamp the scheme’s communal area and plan to buy some new activities for tenants to enjoy.

The scheme’s Neighbourhood Co-ordinator, Dana Brown, said:

“We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to use the money to refurbish the communal area. The walls have been repainted in a modern light grey. We’ll be getting some new tables for the room and blinds for the windows. It’s going to look really nice when it’s finished.”

“It was great to have a BBC drama being filmed so close to where I lived. It’s amazing to see how much work, time and equipment goes into filming. I hoped to be able to take a photo with one of the actors, but this sadly didn’t happen.”

The Outlaws stars American actor Christopher Walken and Bristol born comedian Stephen Merchant. It airs on Monday nights on BBC One at 9pm until 6 December 2021.
