Compliance high on Habinteg’s agenda with new appointment
Habinteg has appointed new Compliance Manager Lauren Courty to oversee gas, electrical and fire safety, ensuring its buildings are safe and compliant .
In her first year at Habinteg, Lauren will focus on establishing the new online compliance management system, which will help the housing association to be more efficient in auditing and reporting.
When Covid-19 restrictions allow, Lauren’s role will also involve visiting Habinteg’s schemes.
She said: “Compliance is a complex area. It’s about making sure our buildings and customers are safe, our policies and procedures are strong and that we have the right contractors doing the right things.
“A key part of my role will be reviewing Habinteg’s policies and procedures, ensuring we keep up with regulations and new legislation such as the Building Safety Bill.
“I’ll also be speaking with stakeholders and tenants to ensure we’re promoting a positive building safety culture.”
Lauren will be working closely with Habinteg’s Head of Asset Management, Michael Vickers, to ensure our processes and systems are robust.
He said: “We’ve taken the time to ensure we find the right person to carry out this very important role and in Lauren we feel that we have found a good fit. She joins us with solid compliance and Health & Safety knowledge as well as experience in social housing.
“As a valuable addition to the Asset team, Lauren will play a key role in improving how we manage property compliance and raise customer satisfaction levels with our services.”
Lauren started her career in compliance in the nuclear industry. Before joining Habinteg she worked for Impact Housing Association - which later merged with The Riverside Group - in the assets/compliance service area.
She also provided strategic and management oversight on compliance, repairs, maintenance and planned investment.
