Advice about changes to your rent

By now, tenants will have received your annual rent increase letter from Habinteg and there are a few things that you may now need to do.

Standing order
If you pay your rent by standing order, you should amend your standing order amount with your bank as soon as possible.

If you pay monthly, contact your Habinteg income recovery officer for help if needed. They will be able to calculate your new standing order amount for you.

Housing benefit
If your rent is paid through housing benefit, post a copy of the rent increase letter (or submit it via email) to the housing benefit department of your local authority straight away.

This will ensure that you continue to receive the correct entitlement.

Universal credit
If you claim universal credit, you must upload the rent increase letter to your online journal as soon as possible to ensure that your benefit is increased in line with the annual rent increase and that you receive your correct entitlement.

This applies if the universal credit housing element is paid directly to you or if it is paid directly to Habinteg as part of an alternative payment arrangement.

If you need more information or help after reading your letter, call Habinteg Direct on 0300 365 3100 and choose the Income Recovery option.
