Familiarise yourself with our new Service Charge Guide

When you pay your rent, you’ll see that you also pay for a service charge.

What is it?

A service charge is a fee payable by the tenant to the landlord (Habinteg) to cover repairs, maintenance, improvements, insurance or costs of management.

At Habinteg, we charge a fixed fee for our service charges, and we review it annually, looking at how much we spent in the last year, and adjusting the fee accordingly.

Donna Holmes, Head of Housing, said: “We’ve been listening to tenants and taking on feedback to improve the way we communicate about service charges.

Clear information

“A key element of this is to ensure the information we provide is clear, easy to read and understandable, so we’ve reviewed the Service Charge Guide with the help of our tenant representatives.”

The guide includes a list of all the service charges we charge for and an explanation of what they cover, as they appear on your service charge statement.

The Service Charge Guide is available to be downloaded below and also in hard copy (please contact your Neighbourhood team if you would like to receive a copy).
