FAQs about our maintenance programme

We believe that the quality of our homes and services is central to our mission to provide accessible homes that welcome and include everyone. We undertook an extensive programme of stock condition surveys across our properties. The survey looked at the condition of each property, its energy efficiency and crucially the level of accessibility.

We used the results to develop a five-year plan to bring older properties in line with current standards of accessibility. We’ve developed a list of frequently asked questions (below) about our maintenance programme to answer any questions you may have.

What work are you doing?

We’re doing investment work on our properties to improve the quality of our homes. We’ll be replacing kitchens, bathrooms, windows, doors and boilers in the homes that need them the most.

When will you be coming to my property?

We’re visiting the homes that need work the most, first. You don’t need to contact us, if work is being done on your property, we will write to you, and let you know all of the details.

My neighbour is having work done – will I be having work done too?

Not necessarily – we looked at every home individually to see whether anything needed replacing. As each home has different features, your neighbours may need work doing to their property that you do not.

Who can I talk to about this?

If you’ve received a letter from us and would like some more information you can contact us at Habinteg direct. When the work starts, you’ll be able to speak to our contractors who will be carrying out the work.

Can I say no to the work?

We want to ensure that our homes are maintained to the highest standard so it’s essential that all of the works are completed. If you are worried about the work taking place in your home please call us so we can help. If the work is required by law and is essential for your safety, it must be completed.

How long will it take?

Kitchen: usually 5 days
Bathroom: usually 5 days
Window and Doors: usually 1 day
Boiler installation: usually 1 day

This may vary, but if work is going to take longer we will let you know as soon as possible.

Will I have to move?

No. Unless there are exceptional circumstances we will keep disruption to a minimum and you won’t have to leave your home.

Can I choose what you install?

You may have a choice on some of the items we install – our contractors will discuss this with you when they visit.
