European Federation for Living Accessible Housing Design Competition 2015 to 2016

Habinteg took part in delivering the European Federation for Living’s (EFL) new competition to explore what accessible housing will look like in the future. Architecture students from across Europe submitted innovative and creative designs for a new generation of accessible homes that could help older and disabled people live more independently.

EFL announced the winners of the first design competition at its Spring conference in Helsinki on 12 May 2016. Samu Pitkanen from Tampere University, Finland was the winner with his design – Responsibility Brings Purpose.

This publication explains more about the competition brief and details the role of the jury and how they ultimately made their decisions. Each design submission is then featured with comments from the jury and overall conclusions.
