The easing of lockdown continues

Following a successful first step in the roadmap out of lockdown last month, the Government lifted further restrictions on April 12th.

Please be mindful that your neighbours may have reasons to be cautious about the easing of restrictions – a reason could be if they have not yet received the full vaccine.

Some of the key changes are:

  • Non-essential shops, gyms, hairdressers, nail salons, libraries and
  • outdoor attractions have reopened.
  • Outdoor hospitality including pubs and restaurants are open.
  • The number of care home visitors allowed to visit has increased to two per resident.
  • Self-catering holidays with your own household are now allowed.
  • Children can attend indoor activities such as sports.
  • Up to 30 people can now attend funerals and up to 15 people at weddings.

Habinteg will review opening of closed off communal spaces on its schemes as and when further restrictions are eased and it is safe to do that.

Future changes

If Covid-19 cases continue to fall and the easing of lockdown progresses according to plan, the Government will continue to lift restrictions.

To control infection rates in your community, it’s important to continue to follow government advice and wash your hands, cover your face and make space.

If infection rates remain low, the Government hopes that all legal limits on social contact can be removed on 21 June.

More concrete details about international travel and social distancing will be provided in the coming weeks.
