Our Partners

At Habinteg, our expertise is in housing and disability. We believe the best way to raise standards and move towards an inclusive society is to share this expertise through partnerships.

We work with more than 40 local authorities and many other agencies to provide homes and services to our tenants across England. For instance Linden Grove, one of our recent schemes, has been delivered through a successful partnership with Countryside Properties, Wandle Housing Association and the London Borough of Southwark.

Partnerships are crucial in other areas. Our alliance with the Disability Rights Commission and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation lead to a joint submission on accessibility standards that went on to be incorporated in the new Planning Act.

As well as being a member of RADAR's 'New Spirit Alliance', Habinteg is the only housing association with corporate membership of the British Council of Disabled People. We use our expertise to represent the needs of disabled people at the Housing Corporation's Disability Advisory Group, where we play a very active role.

In 2002, we were commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation to promote Lifetime Homes in the UK, along side the Charted Institutes of Housing in Wales and Northern Ireland. Following lobbying from Habinteg and other campaigning organisations, in 2004, Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, announced in his London Plan that all new housing in the capital should be built to Lifetime Homes standards.

In all these ways, Habinteg uses its expertise and experience from more than 30 years as the leading force in accessible housing and inclusive design to work with our partners and create more inclusive communities that everyone can share and enjoy.
