Helping residents to be more digitally savvy

By Susan Osborne, Neighbourhood Co-ordinator at Maes Trisant, Wales

This summer, the residents of Maes Trisant took part in the Digital Friday project. The free six week project was open to all Maes Trisant residents and tenants from other housing associations in the surrounding areas.

Digital Friday is designed to help attendees be more digitally savvy. They learnt how to stay safe when using the internet, and how they can use the capabilities of Skype to keep in touch with friends and family. The trainer was also on hand to answer any of their questions about using computers and the internet.

The Digital Friday project has been developed by a number of organisations who are members of Get RCT Online partnership. These include Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) council, Phoenix Initiative, Rhondda Housing Association, Communities First, RCT Libraries, Digital Communities Wales and Newydd Housing.
