Our tenants often face social and physical barriers that make it difficult for them to live the lives they want to live.
Our on-site community assistants help them overcome these barriers. They are the first port of call for any of our tenants who want help or information. Often, they assist the tenant themselves. On other occasions, they help the tenant liaise with others who can provide the service they need, such as management or maintenance staff from Habinteg or from the local council.
This support is an essential part of what makes Habinteg special. But we know our tenants are such a diverse group that we have to be flexible. Some need intensive support. Others only need to use their community assistant occasionally. The choice is left to the tenant; they can use the support services as often or as rarely as they like.
We also support the aims of the government's Supporting People programme, which aims to improve the quality of housing-related assistance.
We believe our community assistants help to promote independence and inclusion for our tenants and further our aim of a truly inclusive society.
