Buildings of architectural and historical interest open their doors to visitors for one weekend every year in London. Entry is free (though booking is advised in some cases) and the event really does give access to some amazing sights, such as the fascinating and beautiful disused Victorian Gothic Midland Grand Hotel at St. Pancras built by Sir George Gilbert Scott (1868-76).
